The business has a long and prestigious history of service to the electonics industry. It was founded in Chicago as Dearborn Electronic Laboratories, Inc. in 1952, manufacturing high quality paper and film capacitors. In 1959, the company moved to Central Florida. It was purchased by Sprague Electronic Company in 1964, and was operated as a wholly owned subsidary until 1972. At that time the Dearborn name was phased out and the operation became a division of Sprague. In 1992, Dearborn again became an independent company when it was purchased by a group of former managers.
